2 a week
Only a quarter of Britons eat the recommended two portions of seafood a week. Many people are scared to cook fish or don’t know how to prepare it.
Organised annually by Seafish, Seafood Fortnight uses the theme ‘2 a week’ to encourage people to eat fish twice a week.
The PR plan focuses on placing simple recipes and features showing how easy it is to cook fish and how important it is to buy seafood from sustainable sources.
Celebrity supporters have included James Martin, Antony Worral Thompson, Brian Turner, Gabby Logan and Nell McAndrew.
Seafood Fortnight is targeted at national, regional, online, lifestyle and broadcast media. The 2006 campaign created 55 million opportunities-to-see, reached 14 million broadcast viewers and was seen by 14 million online unique users.
Media highlights have included Hello! Somerfield magazine, This Morning, BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans Show, Daily Mirror, BBC Good Food, UKTV Food online, and the Daily Record.
