Co-Founder I started the whole 3x1 thing off on a kitchen table with Julie over 9 years ago. I guess I’m pretty chuffed we’ve been recognised as Consultancy of the Year on a number of occasions as well as a cabinet full of campaign awards. With over 20 years in the industry I’ve tried to put back what I’ve taken out. I’m currently chair of the Public Relations Consultants Association in Scotland and a past chair of CIPR Scotland. I served on the UK executive latterly as chair of the Professional Practices Committee and currently sit on the Industry Advisory Panel at Edinburgh Napier University’s BA (Hon) Communication, Advertising & Public Relations degree course. So I’m always trying to help others in the industry. On the client side I’ve worked the length and breadth of the UK and sometimes overseas working across private and public sector campaigns in media relations; crisis and issue management, economic development; tourism, sport & leisure; food & drink; environmental PR; corporate & financial communications; retail, property & planning and not-for-profit. I’ve been a judge of many awards and seen some amazing campaigns that have really demonstrated how PR can make a difference. It’s great that 3x1’s campaigns have been judged alongside its peers at the highest level. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so outside 3x1 I’ve raised in excess of £40,000 for charity completing the New York Marathon, Caledonian Challenge and last year crossed over 200km of ice and snow within the Arctic Circle by dogsled. I love skiing but am pretty useless – slightly better at golf, I play off 4, was Captain of Glasgow Golf Club in 2009 and also play at Prestwick & Strathendrick Golf Clubs. If time allows (difficult with the wife) I also shoot and fish. |
